Online Databases and Data Management for Economists
This is a mini course targeted to people interested in economic data. The list of sources and corresponding material will expand. Keep the link for future reference.
Data management is done with R.
If we finally reach to point with one clean dataset and an established (or trivial) statistical/econometric procedure then Stata, Sas, SPPS, or any software package can done the job (sometimes easier than R).
If the final dataset does not exist and need to prepare it, if data dome form sources, if data need some steps of per-processing, if there multiple datasets, if data need heavy transformation, if data change frequently, etc, etc, then R is your friend. It is better start learning it now.
